First Homefront Reviews Are In

Homefront is out this Friday, but should you make the decision to go out and buy what may be just another first-person shooter? The critics' verdict is uncertain right now: IGN, GamesRadar and the official Xbox magazine all gave the title just 7/10, the latter review criticising it for having "very short and bad single player", while noting that the online modes "work well" with "great multi-player maps" included in the package. Some places have given the FPS higher accolade, though, such as CVG rating it at a much more healthy 8.6 for "refreshingly domestic environments", "intelligent enemy AI" and a "stunning last mission", even if there's "too much hand-holding" and a "short campaign" to drag Homefront down. It's hard, then, to decide whether the near-future shooter is worth a purchase, and what with all the other great titles coming out soon I'll hold back on a review until later this year. Don't worry, you can still expect ratings for LEGO Star Wars III, Dragon Age II, Crysis II, Portal 2 and the Nintendo 3DS in the remaining days of March and over the course of April too!
