Doctor Who: Series 4 The Specials Review (4.5/5)

It’s taken a while, but for fans the moment has come: Murray Gold’s soundtrack for the 2009 Doctor Who specials was nothing short of epic, and one year on from David Tennant’s regeneration we have the music in CD form. Thankfully, the release doesn’t disappoint, spanning two discs with fan favourites like A Victorian Christmas, A Special Sort of Bus, Changing Lives and the classic send-off for Tennant Vale Decem. If these names don’t sound particularly memorable, however, this set may not be for you. As before, the release is aimed at hardcore fans looking to relive the isolated music of the last season, so there’s little point in shelling out a tenner for it if that isn’t your kind of thing. If I could say the release would appeal to a huge spectrum of listeners and keep them engaged this would be bumped up another 0.5, but as it stands you’ll need to be a fan to get the most out of this.
