Universal Studios have today announced two lead actresses set to reprise their roles in their upcoming musical-comedy film Pitch Perfect 2. The sequel to 2012's Pitch Perfect was announced last month to have entered pre-production and will be directed by Elizabeth Banks, the producer and star of the original flick.
First up on the returning roster are Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson. Kendrick played Pitch Perfect's protagonist Beca, but is perhaps best known for her role in each of the five Twilight films. Wilson, meanwhile, made her name with her performance as Fat Amy in the first movie (as well as a supporting portrayal in 2008's Bridesmaids), and has since acquired roles in motion pictures such as Night At The Museum 3 and Pain & Gain. It's great to hear that both of the original's most beloved thespians will return next year, and with any luck, Skylar Astin, Anna Camp and the rest of their on-screen cohorts will return for further aca-exploits sooner rather than later.
Pitch Perfect 2 steps up to the microphone in cinemas worldwide on May 15th, 2015.
