First Star Wars Episode VII Production Video Released

"I've got a good feeling about this..."
Walt Disney Pictures and director J.J. Abrams have this week released the first production video for their upcoming science-fiction film Star Wars Episode VII. Taking place thirty years after the events of 1983's Return of the Jedi, the seventh instalment in the blockbuster franchise of space-faring motion pictures (which first saw the light of day under George Lucas in 1977) will pack an all-star cast including beloved thespians such as Oscar Isaac, Domnhall Gleeson, Andy Serkis and returning players such as Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill.

What's truly reassuring (and refreshing) about the first behind-the-scenes clip (below) from Abrams is that it focuses primarily on promoting a charity-aiding competition which Disney and Lucasfilm have concocted in order to fuel further hype for the film itself. Titled Star Wars: Force for Change, the director's new charity fund will work towards helping those nations which are suffering from severe financial and medical issues through the passion of the series' long-established fan-base. Combine this valiant effort with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win a walk-on role in Episode VII (by donating $10 or more to the campaign, with higher donations offering higher chances of success) and a brilliant glimpse at one of the non-CGI extraterrestrial creatures we can expect to meet new year, and the video as a whole is a guaranteed hit.

Star Wars Episode VII ignites its lightsaber in cinemas worldwide on December 18th, 2015.
