Producers Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller have this week revealed the first details regarding new characters who'll join the ensemble of supporting players in the next instalment of Paramount Pictures' newly-revived Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise of action-adventure films. Tentatively titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, the sequel to this year's divisive Summer reboot will once again star Megan Fox as April O'Neil along with Johnny Knoxville, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher and Jeremy Howard as the piece's shell-clad namesakes.
As ever, the eponymous amphibious kung-fu fighters won't be alone when they make a comeback in two years' time, either. For better or for worse, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 already looks set to be a more crowded piece of cinema than the staggeringly soulless début outing, packing at least two (if not three) entirely new characters whose roots lie in the comic-books which give the motion picture its title. Form and Fuller both said as much to Omelete and The Wrap earlier this week, providing the following details: "We can say that Bebop [a malicious pig-faced warrior whose allegiance lies with Shredder] and Rocksteady [ditto, though he's a rhino] are in the film, and Casey Jones [a long-running accomplice of the TMNT] is a character that we love and we're trying to fit him in as well." More details on the project's heroes, villains and the like are sure to surface in the coming months, so stay tuned to On-Screen for all the latest key info.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 catapults into cinemas worldwide with a pizza slice in one hand and a katana in the other on June 3rd, 2016.
