Eddie Murphy will no longer host the 2012 Academy Awards (Oscars), it has been confirmed by the show's producers today. This follows the departure of producer Brett Ratner, a friend of Murphy who worked with him on the recently released comedy
Tower Heist, after he made some negative remarks regarding the ceremony. Murphy said of his departure: "I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I'm sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job." Sounds a bit fishy, really, but we'll see how it all turns out for the new Oscars team and host when the show airs next February!
