Coming Up This Week: September 10th-16th

Torchwood Returns, As Do Downton Abbey & Guinness World Records This Week!
Right now, On-Screen is going through something of a quiet period with very little in the way of news, huge announcements or big releases to be detailed. When things do pick up, rest assured that so will the coverage, but for now I hope everyone reading is well and that things aren't too stressful at school and/or work right now. Nevertheless, here's a list of a few releases that you'll want to check out this week...
THE NEWSROOM FINALE- Aaron Sorkin's brilliant US journalist drama The Newsroom wraps up its first season on Sky Atlantic this week with Episode Ten. Will Will and McKenzie and/or Jim and Maggie get together this time around? Will the business with the seedy informant be resolved? Or are there more secrets to come next year? All will be revealed tomorrow! (Tuesday 11th)
TORCHWOOD: EXODUS CODE- John Barrowman and his sister Caroline have recently penned a brand new post-Miracle Day Torchwood adventure for us to enjoy, and that's now here in the form of Exodus Code. It's up to Jack, Gwen and Rhys to solve a global alien crisis in this thrilling new dark and mature adult's science-fiction novel. (Thursday 13th)
GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS 2013- An old favourite, this one: though to some extent predictable, the Guinness World Records book series has been a great annual franchise to follow, and the 2013 edition looks to be no less bold and captivating stuff. (Thursday 13th)
DOCTOR WHO: A TOWN CALLED MERCY- What would force the Doctor to take arms against a human being? This week on Doctor Who, Toby Whithouse is giving us the answer, with a thrilling wild west adventure featuring gunslingers, alien medics and a Time Lord not to be reckoned with! Prepare for A Town Called Mercy...(Saturday 15th)
DOWNTON ABBEY RETURNS- Everyone's favourite period drama is back on iTV1, sure to draw in the big ratings even faster than the channel's other big-hitter The X Factor. But at least Downton has consistent quality on its side...well, some of the time at least. (Sunday 16th)
AND THERE'S MORE- American Pie: Reunion and The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists have both just hit DVD and Blu-Ray retailers, so check out them if you haven't already. Meanwhile, Sinbad nears its end on Sky1, and thus things should finally start to get a bit more interesting there. It really is saying something when those are the week's only other 'big' releases...sigh.
ON THE BLOG- As I've said, we'll have slightly less regular articles here until things pick up a bit, so just enjoy the week and keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter for more on things as they come!
AND NEXT WEEK- Borderlands 2 finally arrives on consoles to signal the beginning of the Autumn Of Gaming, the Doctor faces The Power Of Three and Avengers Assemble dominates its way into DVD and Blu-Ray retailers everywhere fresh off its box office success! Don't worry- from next week onwards, the releases truly start to get bigger and better, with Merlin, The Casual Vacancy, The Campaign, Looper, Doctor Who: The Angels Take Manhattan, Taken 2 and Resident Evil 6 all on the way in the next three weeks...
