Inferno Delayed

Source: Ace Showbiz
Until now, Robert Langdon and Han Solo were all set to go head-to-head. Guess who shot first?
ComingSoon.net have just announced a delay in the release schedule of Columbia Pictures' upcoming thriller film Inferno. Picking up where the narratives of 2006's The Da Vinci Code and 2009's Angels & Demons left off, the third instalment in the Robert Langdon blockbuster franchise - each chapter of which simultaneously serves as a fairly faithful adaptation of a Dan Brown novel of the same name - will centre on the aforementioned globe-trotting protagonist's dealings with "an ingenious riddle" and a "chilling adversary" as he utilizes the classic literary text Dante's Inferno in his efforts to overcome his most cryptic challenge to date.

A quick jump through hyperspace was all that Columbia required, it seems, in order to feel comfortable enough to launch the long-awaited follow-up to Angels in not-so-close proximity to the worldwide release of Star Wars Episode VII. The two blockbuster behemoths were originally due to duke it out for the box office crown - and like it or not, it doesn't take a Bothan spy to work out which motion picture would have come out on top - on December 18th, 2015, yet in opting for an October 2016 release window instead, the studio have effectively guaranteed that their latest project will have ample opportunity to thrive commercially as well as providing the production team with more time to make any necessary editorial or tonal improvements in the process. Stay tuned to On-Screen in the coming months as we delve further into the realms of Dante's most famous work and the immediate implications it'll have for Langdon and whoever's unlucky enough to find themselves as his assistant as the quest gets underway.

Inferno will now blaze into cinemas across the globe on October 14th, 2016.
