New The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Promotional Poster Released

Source: Facebook
After facing spiders and goblins aplenty, one would think that Middle-Earth would give Bilbo a break. Apparently not...
Warner Bros. Pictures have today released a new promotional poster for their upcoming fantasy blockbuster The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. The final instalment in Peter Jackson's trilogy of adaptations - don't get us started on why the director felt the need to drag out proceedings for this long - will chronicle Bilbo Baggins and the Company of Dwarves' fateful mission to unite four disparate armadas against the seemingly omnipotent might of Sauron's resurrected forces.

No-one ever claimed that the conflict in question would prove to be simple to resolve, yet for the franchise's titular protagonist (played valiantly by Sherlock's Martin Freeman), it looks as if the weight of the impending war will soon take its toll as the finale's sure-to-be-bloated running time progresses. Of course, that's not to say that Mr. Baggins hasn't faced his fair share of near-insurmountable adversaries over the course of both An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug - indeed, having gone head-to-head with Smaug the Maleficent himself in the concluding sequences of the latter piece, it's not outside the realms of possibility that a one-on-thousands confrontation with hordes of CGI-powered Orcs, goblins and Elves (oh my!) might well seem like a walk in the park by comparison. Jackson teased earlier this year that we could expect to see a theatrical trailer for Battle launch later this month; if it wasn't already overt, then, readers would be well advised to keep a close eye on On-Screen in the days ahead...

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies unveils its banners and marches into UK cinemas nationwide on December 12th.
