Lost in Time sets out like something out of the classic days of Doctor Who, basically throwing the time-travel quest premise onto the audience before the titles have even rolled, but it develops into quite possibly the best Sarah Jane Adventures story in a while. Where Death of the Doctor (5/5) stumbled at times from unrealistic foes and overdoses of nostalgia, Lost In Time prevails with multiple villains, cameos from X Factor’s Lucy Jones and emotional ties with historical events- who wouldn’t get tear-eyed at the inevitable fate of Jane Grey? Rani and Clyde are given more to do than last week (another surprise), though once again Sarah-Jane isn’t the main crux of the story. All in all, this stands equal-and possibly above-to the Matt Smith cameo story, only leaving me to wonder how the series could possibly round off- will it be Goodbye for Sarah-Jane Smith…?
