The Legend of Zelda WiiU Confirmed

You might be somewhat surprised to see this article based around the announcement of a new Zelda title for the WiiU- did Nintendo not confirm there was a game in development for their next generation console focusing on Link's next adventure at E3 earlier this Summer? Apparently, the beta demo Nintendo showcased at the Expo was merely a hi-def version of a level from the 2007 Wii instalment Twilight Princess, and not representative of the game the developers are currently working on. However, we've now got a small insight of what to expect from the next entry from producer Eiji Aonuma:
"Skyward Sword is a title where we took aim at all of the conventions of the Zelda series. While that may have been difficult, I think that confronting those challenges resulted in something worth a great deal of value. When it comes to WiiU, we'll obviously want to add new elements that take advantage of the capabilities of the console. With that in mind, expect big things from the Zelda series to come!"
So while we don't get concrete details on a potential title or engine for the new project, we've at least got clarification of where the developers were coming from at E3 2011. More details on the WiiU's release schedule (Q3/Q4 2012) will be unveiled at E3 2012 next Summer.
