UK Film Charts: July 30th-August 5th

Seth MacFarlane's new comedy bests Batman!
We here in the UK never seem to have been afraid of kicking out best-selling critical hits from the top of our charts when new lighthearted comedies come into the fray. Proof of this? In the past week, Ted has managed to take The Dark Knight Rises out of the top spot equation despite the latter performing much better than the former in terms of worldwide sales. It's not unprecedented by any means, and certainly flicks like The Expendables 2, Keith Lemon and The Bourne Legacy could fare well too in weeks to come, but it's a shame to see what is quite possibly the best film of 2012 so far held back by a weaker romp. Here's the chart in full:
10. SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN (TF: 4/5)
9. MIRROR MIRROR (TF: 2/5)
8. MAGIC MIKE (TF: 4/5)
7. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (4.5/5)
6. BRAVE (NEW, TF: 3/5)
5. THE LORAX (TF: 2/5)
4. ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT (3/5)
3. DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: DOG DAYS (NEW, 3/5)
2. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES (5/5)
1. TED (NEW, 3.5/5)
