Who News: New Christmas Guest Stars Confirmed

More stars for Jenna-Louise's debut episode revealed!
As we move closer and closer to the return of Doctor Who to our screens, increasingly more details are being revealed about the episodes to come in Series Seven. We've got five episodes of Pond goodness to look forward to starting later this month, including Asylum Of The Daleks, Dinosaurs On A Spaceship, A Town Called Mercy, Cubed and the Weeping Angels New York Pond finale co-starring Alex Kingston as River Song once again. After that, there's a brief wait (filled by thirteen new episodes of Merlin) until Christmas, at which point Jenna-Louise Coleman will be introduced as the new companion Clara. This special episode will feature some 'iconic' guest stars, the official site has now revealed. One of them is Richard E Grant, who dedicated fans of the show will remember played the Ninth Doctor in a Comic Relief sketch and indeed an attempted reboot of Who (Scream Of The Shalka) staged in its long period while it was off air between 1997 and 2005. Grant also recently starred alongside Meryl Streep in the hit biopic The Iron Lady, as well as around eighty other TV and film productions, so his appearance in Episode Six of Series Seven will hardly go unnoticed. On top of that, rising star Tom Ward (well known for his work in 2002's great BBC series Silent Witness) will have a role to play in the Special too. It's debatable whether these two actors match the fame the likes of Kylie Minogue and Michael Gambon have had in the past, but as The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe showed last Christmas Day, sometimes it's the up-and-coming British stars who really pleasantly surprise us- watch this space! Doctor Who returns to BBC1 for five episodes from August 25th to September 22nd, then for its Christmas Special on December 25th, and 'finally' for eight more episodes of Series Seven in early 2013 before the fiftieth anniversary countdown commences!
