For fans of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, the classic platforming franchise starring one of gaming's most alluring heroines, it's been a long wait: Tomb Raider Underworld (9/10) was released in Summer 2009 to a warm reception, but since then there's only been the movie rumours and a downloadable spin-off. So the question that remained in everyone's head was...where will Lara head next? US magazine GamesInformer has revealed that the next entry, helmed by Crystal Dynamics, will be a full reboot of the series, leaving Croft stranded on an island in search of food, water and survivors after a mysterious shipwreck. The game, simply titled "Tomb Raider" will be released on all formats next Autumn. Speaking to Crystal Dynamics, GameInformer found out that players can "carve their own path to the finish line" this time around instead of following linear, pre-set routes on missions, and that the game-play will reflect "Lara's emotional character arc" by "turning the player into a hardened survivor". All signs point to this being the best instalment yet, but come back next year for a full hands-on!
