In what could perhaps be taken as the most surprising move of the year, THQ has announced that they will release South Park: The Game in 2012. This role-playing title will be developed by Obsidian, who recently worked on Fallout: New Vegas, and written by series producers Matt Stone and Trey Parker. THQ say that this will be "an epic adventure that will allow the user to befriend Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny and explore the quiet little mountain town like never before", while GameInformer added in their new issue's cover feature: "As the new kid in South Park, it'll be up to you make friends and defend the town from a wide range of threats." No details of the game's storyline or engine have been released, but you can expect South Park: The Game to hit Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in the second half of 2012.
