Karate Kid Sequel Confirmed

We're getting a follow-up to 2010's surprisingly likeable sports flick!
Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith managed to defy expectations two years back with their emotional remake of the classic Karate Kid, and now it seems the pair are getting their just desserts with the confirmation this week by Columbia Pictures that a sequel to the movie is entering pre-production soon. Chan and Will Smith's increasingly famous star son will reprise their roles as Mr Han and Dre respectively, and it's not unlikely to assume the second instalment will draw on some of the plot threads from the original Karate Kid, Part II (1986) or the other two sequels. Expect more details on The Karate Kid 2 very soon, and I'd say we'll see it arrive in cinemas by late next year or 2014 provided it starts shooting later this year.
