Batman Arkham 3 Announced

Warner Brothers confirm that a new entry in the franchise is coming in 2013!
Warner Brothers Interactive have today announced the development of a new instalment in the Batman: Arkham video game franchise. Originally set up by Rocksteady with 2009's critically acclaimed Arkham Asylum (10/10), the series returned for a blockbuster sequel- Arkham City (10/10)- in 2011 that received just as many accolades, if not more so than its predecessor.

The news came as a brief yet notable part of Time Warner's financial call outlining entertainment releases from Warner Brothers Interactive in 2013. Here's what the company officials had to say at the time: "We also have a strong games release this year, which will included the next release in the Batman: Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012."

We don't know any more concrete details on the matter yet beyond reported web domains such as Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Rises, but there are one or two reports that Rocksteady will this time simply oversee the project with a new leading developer while they themselves work on a unique non-licensed game. There are some rumours circulating that Arkham Origins will deal with Batman's first encounter with the Joker and the Justice League too, which could be very cool!

Batman: Arkham 3 is set for release in 2013 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, WiiU and next-generation consoles.
