On-Screen Advent Adventure: Day Two

BBC ONE ANNOUNCE 2014 SERIES COMMISSIONS
The BBC have today announced a number of new television projects set to enter production and broadcast in 2014. These include several recommissioned series, as well as a couple of original programmes premièring for the first time next year.

Here's the full round-up of what BBC One director Charlotte Moore announced at today's press conference:

  • BIG SCHOOL- Firstly, David Walliams' situation comedy Big School has been recommissioned for a second series of six episodes. Starring Walliams, Catherine Tate and Philip Glenister, the show amassed respectable ratings in its initial run, and will return for Season Two in Autumn 2014.
  • CITIZEN KHAN- Another acclaimed sitcom from the Beeb, Citizen Khan will also be back for a third series on BBC One. Following a new Christmas Special launching on December 20th, Season Three will broadcast in Summer 2014.
  • OUR GIRL- Few would have predicted quite how successful Lacey Turner's one-off military drama Our Girl would become upon its initial broadcast. As such, the programme has been expanded into a five-part series, due to air in Summer 2014.
  • INSIDE KFC- The new commissions weren't all based around comedy, however. Inside KFC is a three-part documentary investigating the functions of the titular fast-food chain both in the UK and internationally. The first episode of the run will broadcast in Summer 2014.
