With ComicCon well and truly set in motion, one big first reveal has been the initial poster and teaser trailer for next year’s superhero movie reboot The Amazing Spider-Man. The film, coming next summer, sheds the continuity of the Tobey Maguire trilogy, as Andrew Garfield’s incarnation of the Webbed Wonder heads to high school, wooing Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacey and facing off against the sinister Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans. What we’re seeing is very much in a similar vein to other origins films, which is worrying seeing as this reboot comes just a few years after Spider-Man 3 (2/5, 2007), but hopefully with Garfield we can get a more realistic incarnation of big screen Spidey that can enter the rare league of great superhero films.
