Epic Mickey Developers Junction Point Close

The team behind the Epic Mickey franchise suffer a tragic turn of events this week as Junction Point shuts down.
Disney Interactive Studios have today confirmed the heartbreaking news that their third-party video games developer Junction Point has shut down. Headed up by writer and artist Warren Spector, the developers were acclaimed for their original Epic Mickey project in 2010, which led to the production of a sequel- Epic Mickey 2: The Power Of Two- yet the latter game proved to be a big flop in stores last Winter after releasing next to Call Of Duty: Black Ops II, Assassin's Creed, Halo 4, FarCry 3 and Hitman: Absolution for starters. The Power Of Two was met with a mediocre reception too, yet there were tonnes of gameplay strengths in there that many critics still picked up on, and with a third instalment in the Disneyland-themed series perhaps the developers could have found innovative ways to right their franchise's wrongs. Nevertheless, it's a challengingly difficult time for the video gaming industry, as THQ will have recently agreed with their own shutdown. We wish the staff of Junction Point the best of luck in their future endeavours, and send our best wishes at what must be a difficult time for these creative men and women.
