Who News: Steven Moffat On Series 7.2, 50th

Doctor Who's showrunner takes us through what to expect in the new episodes coming in 2013...
Today, we're exactly just two months away from Doctor Who's return. With this in mind, at the Radio Times cover party last night, showrunner Steven Moffat started chatting with an intrepid journalist on what we can expect to see in the episodes that will broadcast in this celebratory anniversary year. So far, we know that we've got the eight-part anniversary season this Spring, with the 50th Anniversary Special and BBC2 docudrama An Adventure In Time And Space heading up the televised celebrations amongst loads of big events this November. Here's everything that the Moff had to say on the adventures ahead...

  • ON THE SPRING ANNIVERSARY SEASON- "We'll be up in the air, we're under the water, we're on a fantastic alien planet, we're back in time, we're forward in time, and the Doctor's greatest secret is in jeopardy..."
  • ON THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL- "It's pretty big. You can't do this job if you're nervous all the time. So, seriously, I'm mostly excited, a little bit nervous and aware of trying not to let people down. But, you know, I don't want people to get bored just yet. So let's just wait and get our next eight episodes out of the way before we start talking about it."
With the revelation that 'the Doctor's greatest secret is in jeopardy', could the Moff be teasing that the first hints of what's to come at the Fields Of Trenzalore- as has been hinted since the Season Six finale The Wedding Of River Song- be included in the final few episodes of the season? I'd say don't be surprised if that's the case, even the prophesied infamous event itself doesn't come to fruition until the big 60-minute special coming our way in November! Beyond that? We'll likely get further announcements on the fairly likely 2013 Christmas Special and 2014's Season Eight during the broadcast of the anniversary season this Spring.

Doctor Who returns to BBC1 on Saturday 30th March.
