Now we're into the second month of Doctor Who's big celebratory 50th Anniversary year, news reveals on what's to come in the months ahead and indeed new releases about the show are coming thick and fast. Today we've got news on both upcoming issues of Doctor Who Magazine and the Second Doctor eBook releasing this month. Here's our guide to all the latest Who news...
- THE STORY OF THE SECOND- BBC Books have today announced the name and author of Doctor Who's Second Doctor 50th Anniversary eBook that's due for release later this month. Titled The Nameless City, and penned by famed Irish author Michael Scott, the new story sees the Doctor and Jamie inadvertently sucked inside of the world of a book to face the deadly Archons. It promises to be yet another epic anniversary novelised gift for the late Patrick Troughton's character, and of course another fantastic addition to the roster of big kids' authors listed for the celebrations.
- THE FUTURE OF DWM- Quizzed on just what his official Doctor Who Magazine has planned for the big anniversary year, Tom Spilsbury had a few big comments to make. Here's what the new edition's editor had to say: "We'll be covering all the new episodes, as you will expect. When they start making the episodes for airing later in 2013, we'll be planning some very special things- but it's difficult to go into too much detail at the moment for obvious reasons! But we want to do the whole 50-year history of Doctor Who proud. I'm very excited about Mark Gatiss' An Adventure In Space And Time, and I think that will present the opportunity to do something very interesting. And on top of all that, we have some rather different Special Editions planned..."
Doctor Who Magazine Issue 457, which features a long-lost interview with Jon Pertwee and the first episode details and titles for the anniversary season, is set for publication this Thursday February 7th. Doctor Who: The Nameless City will be released for Kindle devices everywhere on Saturday February 23rd.
