The first cross-platform compatability between the Nintendo Wii and its successor the WiiU has been revealed, in the form of new title Dragon Quest X, the latest in the cult franchise of role-play fantasy games recently made exclusive to Nintendo hardware. We don't know what new features the sequel will entail, or indeed what combining the two incarnations of the Wii will add to the experience, but developer Square Enix says players can "form parties and co-exist with other players in an online world". Dragon Quest X will also support cross-platform features with Nintendo's 3DS too, which should make for an interesting combination of hardware capabilities to form the ultimate online experience. The game will retail on the Wii and WiiU next Winter.
