As I've said before, this Friday is a BIG one for video games fans, with Dead Island, StarFox 64 3D and NHL 12 just the tip of the iceberg for what promises to be a huge start for the Autumn of Gaming. Two major anticipated titles hitting stores in just three days time are Resistance 3, a PS3 exclusive, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, out on 360, PS3 and PC. Games critics have already started rating these two big hitters, so here's your chance to get their verdict before you buy 'em...
RESISTANCE 3:
G4 (5/5): "Resistance 3 provides a cohesive and polished AAA shooter experience. It's finally confident enough to be itself- and in the way is brutal, whimsical and ultimately special."
GAMETRAILERS (88%): "The multiplayer doesn't do too much to stand out, [but] the variety and pacing make it the best in the series so far."
IGN (90%): "It offers the same polished experience as the last two games, only this time the action is more focused and tightly structured. A surprisingly emotional cinematic roller-coaster of a campaign never lets up!"
JOYSTIQ (4.5/5): "Resistance 3 isn't just a great game full of marked, inspired improvements over its predecessors- it's a declaration of intent to become the new heir apparent to the sci-fi shooter throne."
EUROGAMER (8/10): "Insomniac has chosen to look back to how we used to play rather than grapple with how we could play in the future...that cautious approach results in a game that is extremely enjoyable, but never as imaginative as you want it to be."
INCGAMERS (70%): "A disappointing second act lets the whole game down, taking it from a 'possibly great' to just plain old fashioned 'good'. Certainly worth playing, but it's not a classic."
WARHAMMER 40,000: SPACE MARINE
GAMEPRO GERMANY (81%): Pros: Lots of action; strong pacing and an "interesting story twist". Cons: A "harsh difficulty" level for newcomers and "occassional camera problems".
