First Dead Island Reviews Are In

With just four days to go until its general release, games critics have begun to give their verdicts on the hotly anticipated survival-horror RPG Dead Island. Has it lived up to the hype created by that beautiful CGI teaser trailer? Perhaps not, but it seems you will at least be able to have a good time blazing through it until the other big hitters of this month arrive!
IGN (8/10)- "Dead Island won't win any Game of the Year awards- it's got visual bugs, the controls take a bit to feel normal, and the presentation isn't up to snuff. But there is a huge world to explore, thousands of zombies to kill and tons of side quests to take."
X360 (73%)- "It's a lot like most of the weapons employed by its protagonists, crude, broken, but surprisingly effective...at first. It doesn't stand up well to sustained, repeated use though."
GAMEINFORMER (85%)- "Just shy of the open-world zombie apocalypse game you've always wanted. If you've spent your time planning for the zombie apocalypse, Dead Island is the best option so far to test how long you'd last."
CVG (65%): "Dead Island has some good ideas and satisfying gameplay to offer in places. If anything, this one will find success as a guilty pleasure, but that'll be after it's been utterly pooh-poohed by gaming connoiseurs."
Dead Island is out this Friday, September 9th.
