Actor and comedian Eddie Murphy has been confirmed to host the 84th Academy Awards next year. Also known as the 'Oscars', the awards ceremony presents us with the best movie and actorial selections from the past twelve months, and is held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Big winners in the 83rd Oscars included
Inception, The Social Network, The Fighter and
Toy Story 3. Oscar telecast producer Brett Ratner said of the announcement of Murphy's appointment: "Eddie a comedic genius, one of the greatest and most influential live performers ever. With his love of movies, history of crafting unforgettable characters and his iconic performances, especially on stage, I know he will bring excitement, spontaneity and tremendous heart to the show Don [Mischer, co-producer] and I want to produce in February." The nominations for the 2012 Awards will be revealed next January 24th.
