A new novelisation of a lost classic is a highlight of this slow week...
Right now, the world of Doctor Who is a little bit quieter as the production team are off shooting their new season of adventures for broadcast in late 2012 and early 2013. However, we are getting an interesting novelisation of Shada, an episode written by famous sci-fi author Douglas Adams in the 1980s, never aired on-screen yet now brought to life on paper by Gareth Roberts. The book's release is easily a highpoint landmark for the next seven days, especially considering that there's not much else to look forward to bar a big day for this blog!
AT THE MOVIES- The only really big event for cinema this week is 21 Jump Street, a comedy with Jonah Hill that sees two secret agents face off against a team of primary school teachers. Still, at least we've got Hunger Games coming next week...
SWITCH ON THE TELLY- Alan has a troublesome run-in with his past in Two & A Half Men: A Possum On Chemo, one of House's doctors gets his biggest shock yet in House: Chase, and the New Directions face an exciting proposition for Regionals in Glee: The Spanish Teacher, while we reach the beginning of the end in the penultimate episode of Being Human, Making History!
ON THE SHELVES- There's a DVD blitz tomorrow, as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, The Help, Call The Midwife, My Week With Marilyn, Jane Eyre and Birdsong all come to stores. Other than that, things are pretty quiet, but Monday's definitely a good day for DVD/Blu-Ray players.
GAME ON- Clearly not content with having released the best-selling entertainment product of 2012 so far last week in Mass Effect 3, EA Games are striking back once more with FIFA Street, whereas Sony are bringing us one of this year's biggest PS3 exclusives with the release of fantasy racer Twisted Metal. This is where things begin to quiet down again, folks...
CRANK UP THE TUNES- Michael Kinwenuaka brings us Home Again tomorrow, and at the same time X Factor runner-up Marcus Collins releases his new EP Marcus Collins. Creative title, I know; these are dull times for the music industry.
SHADA- As I've already said, this is the modern reinterpetation of Douglas Adams' classic Tom Baker story, and should provide a nice diversion for those of us waiting for Series Seven.
NEW PROMETHEUS TRAILER- Also, Ridley Scott is finally releasing a new trailer for his alien horror-prequel Prometheus this Saturday, so we're in for a few more tears and thrills over the weekend!
ON-SCREEN'S TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY!- Oh yes, there's a big event for On-Screen here- on this Wednesday, March 14th, the blog will have been running for two entire years! I'll be looking back on what's happened in the world of entertainment in the past two dozen months, as well as ahead at what the future holds and may hold...
ON THE BLOG- I'll be reviewing the first series of Being Human, new episodes of House and Glee and of course Mass Effect 3 in days to come, plus looking at On-Screen's two years covering the world of entertainment and reviewing just what happened to this industry in February. Expect that Prometheus trail late on Saturday, too.
AND NEXT WEEK...It's finally time for the Hunger Games, so let the games begin! Plus the nominations for the Q1 2012 Awards (which I'll be asking you to vote for as well as voting myself) revealed...
