Hobbit News: Part 1/2 Break Point Announced

Where will An Unexpected Journey end in terms of its novel?
What with the announcement that The Hobbit is to be split into three films rather than two, fans have been wondering for some time now just where An Unexpected Journey will climax and The Desolation Of Smaug will pick up in terms of the original novel. Well, thanks to a new poster, it has now been confirmed by Warner Brothers and the series' marketing team that the final event of the opening film will be the rescue of Bilbo and the Dwarves by the Eagle Lords aided by Gandelf and Thalin, as depicted in the sixth chapter of the book, Out Of The Frying Pan And Into The Fire. Originally, the film was set to continue a little further past the spider encounter and towards the meeting with bear-transformer Beorn up to Chapter Nine, but it seems that due to the shifts in production those sections will now prove to be the opening of Smaug. Not to worry, though, as this could well mean that the running times were always going to need to change, anyway- don't expect anything less than at the very least a two-hour movie from Peter Jackson, and in all honesty that's likely to be a big underprediction. Do expect a brand new trailer for Part One very soon now! The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey lands in cinemas on December 14th.
