September's always an interesting month, opening the final quarter of the year and bringing with it a lot of exciting releases ahead of the Autumn and Christmas blitz. In 2012, the situation is no different, with some much-anticipated newcomers and returnees landing on our shores in weeks to come. Which ones should you be looking out for, though? Here's our Top 5 Most Anticipated Releases of this month...
5. LOOPER- Joseph Gordon-Levitt is back on the big screen post-Dark Knight Rises for a new science-fiction adventure. His character is tasked with assassinating villains sent back from the future to present day, but what does he do when his future self (Bruce Willis) is his next target? Great, Moffat-esque stuff for cinema goers is right here! (Friday 28th)
4. THE CAMPAIGN- Another big film making its way to cinemas this month, The Campaign rides the wave of interest in the next Presidential campaign by casting Zach Galifinakas and Will Ferrell as potential Congressman. When such a battle of wits and will is provoked by their voting campaigns, there's only one real outcome- let havoc ensue...(Friday 28th)
3. THE CASUAL VACANCY- In case you'd forgotten, J.K. Rowling is returning to the world of literature with an all-new novel this month. The Casual Vacancy remains shrouded in secrecy, but given the repertoire of its prestigious author, I'm more than willing to have a little faith in this case. Could it be magic once again? We'll see- it should be one heck of a ride. (Thursday 27th)
2. MERLIN- Everyone's favourite Arthurian warlock is back for his fifth and final season on BBC1 as the month comes to an end. Merlin is about to face his darkest challenge yet, a momentous battle with the evil Mordred that could determine the fate of Camelot and indeed its monarchy. This could well be television gold, so you will not want to miss it! (Saturday 29th)
1. DOCTOR WHO- We've already had the brilliant season opener, Asylum Of The Daleks, yet all that does is increase my excitement for the remainder of Series Seven Part One. Dinosaurs On A Spaceship, A Town Called Mercy, The Power Of Three and The Angels Take Manhattan are next up in the run, seeing off the Ponds in spectacular fashion for one final heartbreaking adventure. The adventures continue...(Saturday 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th)
