Hitman Franchise Gets A Second Developer

Absolution marks a franchise shift for Hitman...
It seems Square Enix are going to take a leaf out of Activision's Call Of Duty-shaped book. This week, the publishers have confirmed that from now on, new instalments in the Hitman video game franchise will be split between two developers. IO Interactive currently heads the series, having just produced the stunning Absolution, yet the next entry will instead be developed by Square Enix's own Montreal studio. When the directors of the franchise spoke to Official PlayStation Magazine on the matter, they essentially pronounced that this new move for the franchise would provide a "fresh perspective" on what Hitman is as of this decade and perhaps what it can become in the years ahead. This approach has worked well for the Modern Warfare and Black Ops divide for COD and the Gears 1-3 and Judgement divide Epic and PeopleCanFly have concocted, so there's no reason it can't work wonders here! Hitman Absolution is out now in stores everywhere.
