December 2011: Top 5 Most Anticipated Releases

Blimey- hasn't this year gone fast? I can still remember the thrill for the British of stumbling onto a hit with The King's Speech in January, the ludicrous battles of Marvel VS Capcom 3 that raged in February, the terrible events of Alex Rider's final adventure Scorpia Rising in March, the...well, you get the point. It's been an eventful twelve months, and everything's about to come to a head as the festive season brings a wealth of exciting new entertainment releases. Here are the five I think you should keep an eye on this month:
5. OUTNUMBERED CHRISTMAS SPECIAL- Yep, Pete and Sue and their adorable bunch of kids (who seem to grow tearfully older by the day, shedding away the days of their cuteness so fast...sob!) are back for another hilarious hour of fun. This episode sees Aunt Jane left to fend with the children as Sue's father nears the end...don't expect things to get too sad though, it's Christmas after all! (Christmas Eve)
4. PUSS IN BOOTS- I'm quite looking forward to seeing how Dreamworks have tackled this interesting spin-off to the Shrek franchise- rumour has it it's virtually a standalone film, giving Antonio Banderas the chance to finally show off his vocal talents at centre stage. Keep an eye on this animated comedy! (December 9th)
3. MERLIN- The fantastic fourth season of the Arthurian drama comes to its huge conclusion this month, as Morgana allies herself with the most powerful army in the whole of England and prepares to take the kingdom of Camelot for herself. Arthur is left bruised, defeated and a refugee with Gwen and Merlin, but can love conquer all, or must everyone's favourite wizard make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that Albion can rise? (December 3rd, 10th, 17th and Christmas Eve)
2. DOCTOR WHO: THE DOCTOR, THE WIDOW AND THE WARDROBE- It's been nearly two months since the Doctor stepped back into the shadows, heeding Dorium's warning that his true name would form the crux of the fall of the Eleventh at the Fields of Trenzalore in his near future. Now, the Time Lord takes on the role of caretaker, investigating the mystery of Hollow Men and incorporating his blue wardrobe to take the Atwell family on a breathtaking sci-fi adventure that they'll never, ever forget...and neither will we! (Christmas Day)
1. SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS- But of course, for me this promising sequel to one of 2009's best movies has to top this list. I can't wait to see what Guy Ritchie, Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law have done with Arthur Conan Doyle's material in their second case, not to mention whether they can once again stand up against the Moffat/Cumberbatch/Freeman trio's superb television antics! (December 16th)
