Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson are back for more car-fuelled mayhem this Summer!
In 2011, Fast Five proved a surprise hit with franchise fans and newcomers alike, earning a strong 3.5* rating here at the blog and performing admirably in box office sales. Well, now, we've got a worthy follow-up in the form of Fast & Furious 6, which looks to take the series into brave new territory. Today, Universal Studios have released the first plot synopsis and promotional poster for the movie, the latter of which can be seen as this article's headline image.
Here's the synopsis as it currently reads: "Since Dom and Brian's Rio heist toppled a kingpin's empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam has made their lives incomplete. Meanwhile, Hobbs has been tracking an organisation of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty. The only way to stop the outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again." It certainly sounds like a thrilling Summer blockbuster for the matter, and with any luck this sixth instalment will go down well with critics too so as to set off the already-announced Fast & Furious 7 on a great precedent. Expect a new trailer for the movie to arrive tomorrow morning.
Fast & Furious 6 will accelerate into cinemas everywhere on May 24th.
