April 2011: Best Release

My choice to award April 2011's Best Release to not one but two entertainment releases may seem like a cop out to some, but those people clearly didn't experience either Portal 2 or Doctor Who: Day Of The Moon and thus don't understand that to choose one over the other for this prestigious title would be to discredit an absolutely essential game/watch. Make no mistake, if the second episode of Who had been at the promising standard of its predecessor alone then it would have lost out to a video game experience full of hilarity, huge setpieces and groundbreaking plot twists that is sure to earn a place on many Game of the Year shortlists come December, yet Steven Moffat and the BBC Wales production team brought us the best episode of their science fiction drama in a good while, featuring scares, laughs and ultimately regenerations in a compelling storyline that looks to span the entirety of Season Six. Rest assured that in months to come my decision will be more final (and no doubt upset countless readers), but for now just go out and see these two amazing releases, both deserved of their places here!
