Best Of 2012 Awards: Top 5 Biggest Surprises

Reminding you of the most pleasant shocks of 2012!
Each and every year of entertainment always brings its fair share of unexpected surprises which we couldn't have seen from a metre off. 2012 was no different, with a strong handful of much-loved shocks that came thick and fast over the course of the year. Here's our countdown of the Top 5 Biggest Surprises that have graced the entertainment industry in 2012, a definitive list to rank the best shock moments of the year...
5. SHERLOCK'S FALL- It's safe to say that no one could have anticipated the level of controversy and discussion that the final episode of Sherlock's second season, The Reicenbach Fall, provoked. How did Holmes survive the ultimate downfall? We've got to wait until late 2013 to find out, yet for now it's one helluva great source of speculation.
4. THE TWILIGHT SAGA ENDS WITH A BANG- I wasn't expecting much to come of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 2, I'll be honest. Thankfully, though, this epic fantasy finale came as a massive upbeat surprise, surpassing my expectations to give the brilliant film franchise the proper send-off it deserved. Congrats to Summit Entertainment for such a well-deserved hit!
3. ARGO HITS HARD- Another flick I had barely heard of, Argo turned out to be a real success story of its own. The film chronicled an unlikely tale of true heroism and bravery, and in this sense was uplifting to the point of pure nostalgia and captivation. Argo remains without a doubt one of the best movies I've seen this year.
2. THE MUPPETS' SUCCESS- Who could have thought that Jim Hensen's puppets could ever make a successful comeback? The Muppets dared to prove that suspicion wrong, bringing in the crowds thanks to a fantastic list of guest stars, a musical tone to the entire piece and above all a steady balance of nostalgia and innovation that's already allowed for a sequel to be commissioned. Wow!
1. STAR WARS EPISODE VII ANNOUNCED- Ultimately, though, at the top of the list must come the absolute shocker of 2012. George Lucas' handing over of the saga to Disney came as a massive surprise, especially with Star Wars Episode VII marking the beginning of a whole new trilogy set to set the world ablaze once again. Prepare yourselves for 2015 everyone, a year that'll be one to remember...
