The Casual Vacancy BBC Adaptation Announced

J.K. Rowling's best-selling adult's novel gets a TV series!
The BBC have this week confirmed that next year will see the commencement of production on a television adaptation of J.K. Rowling's new adult novel The Casual Vacancy (4/5). Based in the fictional town of Pagford, the Potter author's latest was a compelling jaunt into the lives of various satirical families and individuals whose lives were thrown into oft-hilarious, oft-dark disaster by the death of a village councillor. I would still highly recommend the novel to anyone interested in what Joanna has got up to after leaving behind The Boy Who Lived, as her writing has evolved dramatically and indeed so too has her capacity for captivating storytelling. The number of episodes for the TV adaptation will be decided when the series enters production, so we'll keep you up to date on all of the latest developments next year. The Casual Vacancy airs on BBC1 in 2014.
