When this is in tenth place for a year in gaming, then one thing's for sure that has to be one packed twelve months! Gears of War 3 is the final instalment in the Xbox 360-exclusive shooter trilogy developed by Epic Games, set to push the console to its limits with its stunning visuals and innovative cover game-play, not to mention a suitably epic finale in terms of plot. As GoW 2 ended, we heard over the radio transmissions that protagonist Marcus Fenix's father Adam was kidnapped but very much alive (contrary to what everyone though!), so this year it's time for the Fenixes to reunite before the ultimate battle between the human forces, the Locusts and the COGs threatens to consume the planet Sera. Exciting stuff for sure, and if the previously iffy multi-player modes shape up for the Autumn release then Gears of War 3 could be a major contender for best shooter of 2010...
