The BBC's hit period drama Lark Rise To Candleford will not be renewed for a fifth season, it has been revealed by the show's producers today. The programme, airing on BBC One since 2007, is an adaptation of Flora Thompson's trilogy of novels under the same name, starring Ben Aldridge and Linda Bassett. This year has seen a new run of episodes premièred on the channel, but Digital Spy were the first to announce that due to the show being at an all-time high for viewer ratings this year meant that it would be a shame for the series to lose viewers as it becomes predictable. Lark Rise to Candleford will continue to run until Sunday the 13th of February, so it remains to be seen whether the final episode of the fourth season will properly conclude the show or whether it was written with the plan of future seasons being produced (the former eventuality hopefully more likely!).
