July 2012: Best Release

Batman's finale takes the crown of this month's Best Release!
Well, I mean come on. Just look at it: The Dark Knight Rises was an incredible cinematic experience, a masterful piece of filmic art that demonstrated just why Christopher Nolan is one of the hottest names in the industry right now. From the introductions of very memorable and engaging characters like Bane (played brilliantly by Tom Hardy) and Catwoman (pitched perfectly by Ms. Hathaway) to the wonderful narrative itself that wrapped up the Dark Knight legend in a manner capable of pleasing just above every comic-book fan alive, this masterpiece was packed with key elements that made it such a deserved success with fans and newcomers alike. Kudos must go to Nolan in particular, who directed the whole thing with astounding creative vision and motivation, giving us a piece that won't soon be forgotten and will be a point of comparison for superhero films, thriller films and the action film genre in general for the rest of 2012 and in years to come. Indeed, The Dark Knight Rises transcends its intended genre of film to become something far greater and ambitious than its DC/comic ties which will forever be remembered as quite possibly the Best Film Of 2012, certainly one of the best films we've seen here at On-Screen in a long while. Now, the only question is...where next for Batman? Judging by this fantastic final effort from Nolan, I can't wait to find out the answer. Congratulations to the entire production team for giving us a perfect finale to one of the best film trilogies of all time.
