2010 In Film- Spring
After 2009's hit closers Avatar and Sherlock Holmes left cinemas, it was time for 2010 to show what it had in store for the opening months. A couple of gothic thrills signalled Winter's end: Daybreakers didn't go down well with critics nor financially, while The Book Of Eli's religious undertones scored it praise from many reviewers despite Denzel Washington's latest not being a commercial success. Romance began to settle in as valentine's day dawned, with Leap Year, Dear John and Remember Me setting that blossomy atmosphere for February 14th, while elsewhere kids were pleased with book adaptation Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief and action fans with The Wolfman. In fact, March and April were great times for the former group of film-goers, with such greats as Alice in Wonderland (3.5/5) and How To Train Your Dragon (4/5) arriving in cinemas. To conclude- when looking at spring on the impact of film in 2010, there weren't many hard-hitters (although a few hidden gems like Cemetry Junction and Nanny McPhee shone in the rough), but there was a movie for everyone!
