2010 In TV- Summer
If you hadn't been living under a rock for the past decade, the FIFA World Cup 2010 was probably the television programme that had you most interested in the Summer- until England started to lose matches with absolutely no grace or justification whatsoever (let's not even get started on that missed goal by Green), but James Corden's World Cup Live on iTV lightened the British load somewhat as celebrities discussed each match and speculated as to the winner (who won again? After we bowed out, as per usual I lost interest in the games). Meanwhile, the BBC launched their three-part pilot series of Sherlock, a modern interpretation of Conan Doyle's loved fictional detective books, to great acclaim from viewers, instantly gaining a second series of adventures for Autumn 2011. Doctor Who also came to its climax with The Big Bang, and Glee continued to reign on high on E4 along with talent show Don't Stop Believing on Channel 4. Smallville made a welcome début too on E4 in its ninth season as Clark Kent faced Zod, the Justice Society of America and even a domestic-wife Lois Lane over 22 episodes. The Summer was certainly the best time to watch British TV this year, but that's not to say there weren't some good shows to come in months to come...
