2010 In Film- Summer

This is where things started to pick up- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (4/5) opened the summer season with a bang as vampire battles enthralled audiences for weeks in a much better romp than New Moon. Later on, Vampires Suck (1/5) tried to replicate that success with the teenage guys who were sick of the franchise...but failed miserably. The battle for best action film of the period also began, with The Expendables (2/5) and The A-Team (5/5) fighting for the top spot (and in my opinion the latter won!) over those months. But perhaps the most exciting instalment of the summer was Toy Story 3 (5/5), a fabulous throwback to days of old featuring the old gang and performing brilliantly in the box office. Inception (4.5/5) turned up on the scene to boggle the minds of teens everywhere, and nearly succeeded (but was understandable, to be honest!), as did Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World for comic book adaptations (except it was darn rubbish, 0/5). Comedy fans weren't left unsatisfied, as The Other Guys and Grown-Ups burst into the limelight, while horror lovers got Pirahna 3-D and Predators to make the wait until Paranormal Activity 2 in Autumn a little more bearable. To sum up, the summer was a little let down by woeful flicks like The Sorcerer's Apprentice, but when blockbuster standpoints including Toy Story 3 and Inception were here to sate our appetites, there was no reason to worry.
