Director James Gunn has this week teased new details on the narrative of Marvel Studios' upcoming science-fiction blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (specifically its key players). First announced to be in development at this year's San Diego Comic-Con last month, the follow-up to one of this Summer's most audacious motion pictures will once again star Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, a.k.a. Star-Lord, along with (we'd presume, anyway) Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, all of whom blew this writer away with their accomplished portrayals of the titular team of ragtag superheroes in the original piece.
In response to a query posed via Empire Magazine regarding which characters from the fabled Guardians comic-book lore we can expect to comprise the team's expanded line-up come 2017, Gunn provided us with this juicy snippet of information over on Twitter:
.@eonline @afeeqdannoDNA I love so many - can't give it away but there should be at least one more Guardian from the comics.

Who could that "one more Guardian" be, we wonder? Other members of the printed incarnation of the lovable band of intergalactic warriors have included Captain Marvel (who's already rumoured to receive a solo Marvel Cinematic Universe outing of his own at some point, so nothing's out of the question), Agent Venom (this one isn't happening, purely due to the fact that Sony owns the rights to all things Spider-Man) and even Iron Man (fairly unlikely given that Robert Downey Jr. has only signed on for Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers 3 right now, but again, it's hardly impossible), yet our best guess would be that Gunn will delve deep into the franchise's past, studying the classic team roster which débuted way back in 1969 in order to determine which characters could be integrated seamlessly into future space-faring adventures featuring these now-beloved central constructs.Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will blast into cinemas worldwide on July 28th, 2017.
