X-COM: Enemy Unknown Announced

XCOM: Enemy UnknownGame developers seem to be kicking things into high gear for the new year- Crystal Dynamics announced they would be unveiling a new project for 2012 soon; TT Games announced LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes earlier this week, and now publisher 2K Games have announced X-COM: Enemy Unknown for release later this year. A side-project to the series reboot by the 2K Marin branch, Enemy Unknown reverts to the top-down strategy format the classic 1994 UFO: Enemy Unknown took on, albeit reenvisioned with HD graphics and a new soundtrack. "We were careful to keep Enemy Unknown true to the elements that made X-COM such a revered game while delivering an entirely new story and gameplay experience for both die-hard fans and newcomers to the franchise," 2K's Steve Martin said in the initial press release. Expect much more footage for Enemy Unknown in the coming weeks and at E3 this July; X-COM: Enemy Unknown ships on 360 and PS3 in Q4 2012.
