X-COM Delayed To 2013

Anyone reading the blog who's been looking forward to seeing the new, rebooted version of classic video game X-COM hit their consoles this year, sit down for a second- I've got some bad news for you. In an effort to keep the announcement of their new strategy title X-COM: Enemy Unknown fresh in our minds, 2K Games has basically realised that more time and money needs to be put into bringing that continuation of the original series of games to our consoles before the end of 2012, so has elected to delay their promised reboot to next year. This is by no means the first delay the game has had- only recently, 2K announced it had been pushed back to Q3 2012- but this time it's a lot more covert, revealed in the pages of the new GameInformer, so I'd guess that right now the publisher is looking for the right way to pitch the news to us that a game that's been neglected time and time again will be pushed back even further into their schedule, and that a title that's probably been in development for a much shorter period will be with us before Christmas. Still, at least we'll be getting one dose of X-COM before Christmas...even if it is a game pretty much no-one was expecting to be announced!
