First Anchorman 2 Details Teased

What does the hugely anticipated cult sequel have up its sleeve?
You can't help but think that once Paramount Pictures had got the news out on the US 'Conan' show that they had finalised the deal for a sequel to 2004's cult comedy success Anchorman that they must have been left with a question: what now? Sure, the original director and producer of the first movie have confirmed they'll be back for the follow-up, but many of the original stars like Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd are off doing completely different flicks nowadays (although after seeing the latter's woeful Wanderlust, 1.5/5, I wonder if this might be the turning point Rudd needs!). Things are no less clear on this front just yet, however director Adam McKay has at least begun to tease us with some details of the sequel's narrative: "I don't want to give away too much," he says, "but I'll just give a couple of ideas we've kicked around. Keep in mind we're still writing the story, but I'll say this: custody battle, and bowling for dollars." Quite what on earth that second tease could lead to for our intrepid gang of news reporters is beyond me, but if we find out that Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone have a kid and are fighting for custody of him, we may just get the most epic of news anchor battles of all time in the very near future! Anchorman 2's release date remains TBA; expect it in late 2013 at best yet more likely at sometime in the year after.
