Disney's latest big-screen outing unveiled...
Now that big franchises like Toy Story and Cars seem to have reached their natural end, Disney are in desperate need of some new killer films to win over their loyal followers once again. John Carter wasn't great, and Brave doesn't look like Pixar's finest effort, so perhaps we'll need to look to the newly announced Maleficent for hope from Walt's legacy. Starring Angelina Jolie, the live-action movie will be a prequel to the classic 1959 animated adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, focusing on how the titular antagonist became the evil and manipulative witch we all came to know and hate that first time we saw the kids' flick. Casting details bar the lead are pretty slim right now, and it'll probably be a while before we find out much more on Maleficent, but what we do know for certain is that we'll see it release in cinemas in two years' time.
