The Dark Knight Rises Rated PG-13

The beginning of the end for Chris Nolan's Batman...
The Motion Picture Association Of America has rated the upcoming Christopher Nolan-directed superhero thriller The Dark Knight Rises at PG-13, suitable for viewers aged 13 and above. The movie takes place eight years after The Dark Knight (2008, 5/5) with Bruce Wayne having thrown away his adopted alter-ego, only for fearsome menace Bane and the sly Catwoman to bring a new plot hurtling into Gotham which threatens the city's very end. The rating is justified by the MPAA as such: "This film contains intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language." Anyone who's worried the violence might have been 'dumbed down' for kids to get the equivalent of the BBFC's '12' rating should remember that The Dark Knight and Batman Begins were both rated PG-13 and 12 despite being absolutely brutal thrillers with dark motifs and harrowing sequences, so we can probably expect something every bit as dark and epic as its predecessors here! The Dark Knight Rises lands on July 20th.
