We'll be discovering some more bizarre goings-ons next year via Catholicism...
As if the Paranormal Activity franchise hadn't been milked enough, on top of the three horror films already released consecutively since 2009 and the fourth movie on its way later this year, Paramount Pictures have confirmed that a spin-off to the series is set to enter production soon for release in the future. Featuring an all-Latin cast, the new movie will apparently be a "cousin" of sorts to the main chronology of the Paranormal Actiivty universe, presumably meaning that one or two references will be made to Kristi and Kati and their demon stalkers along the way to finding out what influence the supernatural holds over a group of Catholics in the new film. No details have been released yet on the movie's script, cast or its wider connections to its mother franchise, but we'll find out very soon, as it's set to enter production alongside the fourth main instalment in May. Paranormal Activity 4 is hitting cinemas on October 16th, while the spin-off film is set for release in January 2013. Yep, you read right, Paramount are really going to try and send two movies from the same franchise into cinemas within a quarter of a year of one another. Okay, so Marvel have done it before with Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk in April and June 2008 and Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger in April and July 2011, but for such a challenging genre as horror, is it not just me who this strikes as more than a little ambitious? We'll see...
