Captain America 3, Thor 3 Announced

Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise starts to slot into place...
Marvel Studios have today announced the production of two new superhero films, Thor 3 and Captain America 3. The former will resume the narrative of the Asgardian Avenger in the aftermath of Thor: The Dark World, with Loki atop Odin's throne in disguise as his predecessor, and the potential threat of Ragnarok (aka a galactic apocalypse recently depicted in the comic-books) looming over the Nine Realms.

On the other hand, the latter will have a dual challenge on its hands in continuing the Earth-based Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline after the events of both this March's Captain America: The Winter Soldier and May 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron. Rumour has it that The Winter Soldier's directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo have commenced discussions with producer and general Marvel Studios head-honcho Kevin Feige on the prospect of returning for a third instalment, although nothing will be set in stone until this year's present-day sequel hits cinemas. Regardless of the members of their respective production teams, fans can rest assured that both Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans will reprise their roles as the two franchises' titular protagonists, even if the sequels will potentially feature the penultimate or final appearances of their beloved characters. To sate your appetites for now, though, why not check out a trio of new promotional posters for the studio's latest superhero thriller below?

Captain America 3 and Thor 3 will assemble in cinemas worldwide in 2016 and 2017.
