HBO have today announced the première date of the fourth season of their hit fantasy TV drama Game of Thrones. Based on the events of George R.R. Martin's cult series of novels A Song of Ice and Fire, the show stars Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Charles Dance and Lena Headey at the head of its mighty ensemble.
Here in the UK, each of the first three seasons have been broadcast on Sky Atlantic, and despite Sky's announced intent to scale back their US acquisitions in favour of original drama, fans can be sure that the digital channel will continue to offer the earliest opportunity to catch new episodes of the programme. Season Three débuted in the States on March 31st last year, with its UK première following just twenty-four hours later on the evening of April 1st. Don't be surprised, then, if the first episode of Season Four airs here within days, if not hours, of its domestic broadcast.
Game of Thrones will return to HBO for its thrilling fourth season on April 6th.
UPDATE: Sky Atlantic have confirmed hot on the heels of HBO's US première date announcement that Game of Thrones will return to the UK channel on April 7th at 9pm!
